Namma Indies

There are tens of millions of them — on our streets, outside our shops, curled up in our neighbourhoods in India. Indies. Most of them have never been counted. Many have never even been looked at, not really. Someone looks out for them, though. Someone knows which one limps, which one just had puppies, which one waits by the tea stall every evening. That person already holds the whole story, we just didn't have anywhere to put it yet.

Namma Indies is an open, community-built atlas of India's street dogs — a way to look, and not look away. Neighbourhood by neighbourhood, we want to help the people who know them give every indie a name, a record, a place in something larger: so that no street dog lives or dies uncounted.

It's early. The map is mostly blank. That's where you come in.
